Side Sewer Connections and Permits

All connections to the City of Redmond sewer system require a side sewer application. Repair work on existing sewer service lines also requires a side sewer permit. The side sewer permit application is made to the Development Services Center of the Public Works Department located on the 2nd Floor of City Hall at 15670 NE 85th Street.

Single-family, multi-family, commercial, or industrial structures in the City of Redmond located within 200 feet of a public sewer may be required to connect to the public facilities. Grease interceptors and oil/water separators (see Pretreatment) that connect directly to the public sewer system also required a side sewer permit. All side sewer connections and/or repairs must be done by a contractor that is approved by the Development Services Center and listed on the Center's Side Sewer Contractor Roster.

Side sewer permit applications with complete information relevant to the property and use, including address, owner, billing information, side sewer contractor, installation requirements, and property owner signature are submitted to the Public Works Development Services Center.

Once received by the Development Services Center, side sewer permit applications are prepared for sale. The cost of an in-City side sewer permit includes a general connection charge that is based on the number of units or water meter size and type of use. It also includes an inspection fee.

For new developments and sewer system extensions, construction and administrative paperwork must be complete prior to side sewer permit sales.

Additional information about utility system connections, side sewer permit applications, permit fees, and inspections can be obtained by calling 425-556-2840.

Side Sewer Contractor Roster

The Side Sewer Contractor Roster is a list of contractors who have met specific eligibility requirements and are authorized to perform side sewer work within the Redmond sewer service area. The Roster, maintained by the Development Services Center of Public Works, was established to protect the City's sewer system from defective workmanship and materials by ensuring listed contractors are properly licensed and bonded.

In addition to completion and acceptance of the requisite side sewer permit application; to legally connect to any public sewer, or to construct, alter, or repair a private sewer, Redmond Municipal Code requires that a contractor must be active on the City's Side Sewer Contractor Roster.

Roster eligibility requirements include:

  • City of Redmond business license
  • State of Washington contractor registration
  • Certificate of liability insurance ($500,000 each occurrence)
  • $5,000 Side Sewer Contractor Performance and Maintenance Bond or cash surety
  • Payment of the annual Roster fee

For additional information on the Side Sewer Contractor Roster, a copy of the Current Roster, or a Side Sewer Roster Application, please call 425-556-2760, or drop by the Development Services Center of Public Works located on the 2nd floor of City Hall, 15670 NE 85th Street.
