Child Safety Class
The Redmond Police Department offers a child safety course several times a year. It is recommended and appropriate for children ages 6-12 and parents are required to attend this class with their children.. This is a prevention course designed to teach children and parents how to avoid dangerous situations. This is not a self-defense course. The focus is awareness and other simple concepts that can help children reduce their chance of becoming a victim.

Some of the topics covered are:

  • Who exactly is a stranger?
  • Calling for Emergency help.
  • Who abducts children and how they lure them.
  • Role-play activities for parents and children.
  • Creating a safety plan.
  • What to do if someone tries to grab you.
  • Safety while on the internet.
