The Redmond Police Department offers a child safety course several times a year.
It is recommended and appropriate for children ages 6-12 and parents are
required to attend this class with their children.. This is a prevention course
designed to teach children and parents how to avoid dangerous situations. This
is not a self-defense course. The focus is awareness and other simple concepts
that can help children reduce their chance of becoming a victim.

Some of the topics covered are:
- Who exactly is a stranger?
- Calling for Emergency help.
- Who abducts children and how they lure them.
- Role-play activities for parents and children.
- Creating a safety plan.
- What to do if someone tries to grab you.
- Safety while on the internet.
