The Patrol Division is the largest team of the Police Department and provides emergency police services to citizens within Redmond's incorporated boundaries, 24-hours a day, every day of the year. It is the initial response unit to a majority of calls for service and performs a substantial amount of case investigations. The Patrol Division aids the Traffic Division by investigating most collisions that occur within the city except those of very serious injury or liability to the City. Patrol also performs community oriented policing, crime prevention, some plain clothes operations, and other specialized work.

The City of Redmond is divided into four patrol districts and officers are permanently assigned annually to each district. Patrol Officers are currently working a 4-10 schedule, which means they work four 10-hour days and then have three consecutive days off. Every six or seven weeks the officers switch their days off, rotating from having Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday off to having Friday, Saturday, and Sunday off
