The
Redmond Police Department realizes professional development is
important to all jobs. The Department requires commissioned officers to
attend 70 in-service hours throughout the year. The Department also
supports and encourages all employees in obtaining further knowledge
through Criminal Justice Training and a variety of other vendors.
The Administrative Systems Officer coordinates training for the entire
police department. This position organized over 8,000 hours of training
for department personnel last year. The Administrative Systems Officer
is also responsible for organizing the recruitment and selection of all
RPD personnel, including commissioned and civilian positions.
Governed by civil service regulations,
there is a stringent screening and selection process for all positions
within the department. Aside from the initial application screening
process, finalists will undergo a background investigation.
At the conclusion of
background investigations, there is a contingent job offer made to a
candidate after which the applicant must pass a polygraph test,
psychological test, and a medical examination, which also includes a
drug test. Providing false information during this process could result
in automatic disqualification from being considered.
