Tango 101: Argentine
This series covers the five most common movements of
milonguero-style tango: changing weight and walking, back
ochos exiting with the cross, the rock-rock
turn to the left, turn to the right, and the quintessential
ocho cortado. We cover ground quickly,
focusing on the connection, musicality, and technique necessary to
execute each figure gracefully. Be prepared to get close! Previous dance
experience and signing up with a partner are both recommended but not
required. Check out the
website
for more information.Tango 102:
Improvising With Confidence
In this series, students learn simple ways to connect and blend the five
basic movements into an array of possibilities that will bring you
endless hours of tango joy. Upon the completion of this series, students
have the vocabulary needed to enjoy dancing with all kinds of people in
all kinds of situations, to all kinds of music. As with Tango 101, the
focus of the series will be connection and technique. As before,
students dance body to body.
Prerequisite: Tango 101.
Slow Dancing for Couples I
When you think about slow dancing, do you think of junior high when you
held your partner an arms-length away and bobbled sided-to-side like a
robot? Well, we are here to improve your approach to slow dancing. This
class is designed for couples or partners with no dance experience who
want a fun opportunity to acquire some basic slow dancing skills. You
never know when you will have the opportunity to dance with each other
and we want to make sure you are prepared for that next party, wedding,
or concert. We will not rotate partners in this class, so you are
required to sign up with a partner (couples only).
Slow Dancing for Couples II
This series picks up where Slow Dancing I left off. Students will learn
more fun moves and be experience more varied rhythms. Students will have
a great place to review what they know while learning brand new ways of
struttin' their stuff. This class will have a rotating curriculum so
that students can take it multiple times and continue dancing with their
partner. We will tailor this class to the students that take it, while
keeping it easily accessible to those just coming from Slow Dancing I.
As with Slow Dancing I, we will not rotate partners for this class, so
you are required to sign up with a partner. Prerequisite: Slow Dancing
for Couples I. This class is for couples only).
