Idylwood Park
On Lake Sammamish

Come enjoy Redmond's only park with water access to beautiful Lake Sammamish! With a newly renovated overflow parking lot, Idylwood Park is ready to accommodate summer crowds. Rent the picnic shelter for a large gathering with family or friends, or simply bring a small group to spend a fun day in the sun. Amenities include outdoor grills (you bring the charcoal!), picnic tables, a playground, sand volleyball court, restrooms/showers, grassy meadow (perfect for Frisbee), and a dock. During the summer months there is a designated, lifeguarded swimming area, as well as a 100-yard lap swim area. This park is wheelchair accessible.

New Lifeguard Hours!
Lifeguards will be on duty from Wednesday, June 16 through Monday, September 6, 2010 from 11am to 6pm daily

Water Safety Information
Have a safe and fun summer! To ensure an enjoyable experience for all park visitors during the beach season, please follow these swimming rules:

  • Obey the lifeguard at all times.
  • Children under the age of 10 must be accompanied by an adult..
  • Swim only in the designated swimming area and while the lifeguards are on duty..
  • Diving, running, pushing, or general horseplay on the dock is not permitted.
  • Swimming under the dock or beyond the swimming boundaries in not permitted.
  • All flotation devices must be kept inside the shallow water area.
  • A swim test may be required if the lifeguard on duty deems it necessary.
  • Dogs and other pets are not allowed within 150 feet of the waterfront area.
  • Feeding waterfowl is not permitted.
  • Alcohol is not permitted.

  • A limited number of lifejackets are available to borrow while the lifeguards are on duty. For additional information on water safety, visit the following websites:.

    The city of Redmond Parks & Recreation Department will be partnering with King County sheriff to offer an "Adventures in Boating" safety class in April 2010, as well as partnering with Orca Swim School to offer a "Conquering Your Fear of the Water" class for adults in June.     Large Groups
    Any groups that will have more than 25 people (day camps, church groups, family gatherings, private companies, etc.) at Idylwood Park during the summer are asked to give the Recreation Office advance notice in order to ensure a positive experience for all parties involved
