Miscellaneous Use Permits are required for non-traditional activities
occurring on Redmond Parks and Recreation Department property to ensure
public health and safety, and to protect natural resources and
facilities. A 'non-traditional park activity' means an activity,
gathering, or use of property or recreation area that is not regulated
by a standard rental procedure. Such activities may include:
- Large group gatherings, tournaments, and events
- Short and long-term rental of property and
structures
- Commercial filming
- Educational and scientific projects
- Activity in which a profit is derived
- Miscellaneous Use Permits may be booked no more than
12 months in advance for residents, 9 months for
non-residents.
- Applications
must be submitted at least 3 weeks
before requested date.
- Applications normally receive approval for
processing within 7 days.
- All Activities must comply with all applicable City
codes and ordinances. This may include city of Redmond
Special Use Permit processing.
- Full disclosure of event setup, vendors, entrance
fees, decorations, and activities is required on the
application.
- Processing Fee: A non-refundable $25 fee is required once tentative
approval is received for event. If the applicant cancels the event, the
applicant will forfeit the deposit. If the City cancels the event, the
fee will be fully refunded.
- Park/Facility Use Fee: A minimum hourly fee of $25/Residents,
$30/Non-residents will be charged for use of the facility. A 2-hour
minimum will normally be required; however, if there are multiple events
on one contract, the hourly minimum may be waived at the contract
administrator's discretion.
- Staffing fees will be assessed at the discretion of the Parks and
Recreation Department. Minimum staffing fee of $35/hour, with 2-hour
minimum guaranteed.
- Fees may be waived if the event is co-sponsored by the City of Redmond.
- Up to $200 for damage, repairs, cleanup, and/or non-compliance. Deposit
may be waived at the staff's discretion for events that have minimal
impact on the park. Language must be contained in the contract making
the organization or individual liable for any damages or additional
cleanup necessary after the event.
- Residency shall be based on the actual location of the organization or
the responsible individual's home address.
A Certificate of Insurance with endorsements is required at $1M
general liability showing the City as additionally insured.
The selling and vending of goods and services is generally not
allowed. However, concessions may be allowed for special events on a
one-time basis.
- 10% of gross revenues may be assessed for product and/or service
concessions in addition to the regular facility fees, regardless of
whether the event is City-sponsored.
- All persons engaging in business within the City of Redmond are required
to obtain a business license. 'Business' includes all activities engaged
within the City with the object of gain, benefit, or advantage to the
person engaging in that activity, directly or indirectly. Questions
