SALARY:  $8.55 - $16.00 per hour, DOE

Qualifications & Requirements:
Must be enthusiastic, energetic and passionate about working with children, as well as have an interest in community recreation and/or education programs. Previous experience planning and leading recreation activities for children ages 3 -12 preferred. Possess specific skills in one or more of the following: arts and crafts, educational activities, sports, organized games, songs, and/or storytelling. Must submit to a criminal background check and, if applicable, must have a valid Washington State Driver’s license by date of hire, and a driving record that meets City standards.  Must have or obtain current First Aid and CPR certification by camp start date. Some positions may supervise volunteers. Note: lead, assistant and/or co-leader status may be established based on work experience.

Duties:
Work with children in a day camp setting. Full and part-time supplemental positions are available, and range from 6 to 11 week assignments. Please note: All positions are dependant on programs meeting minimum enrollment. If programs are cancelled staff will not be scheduled to work; full work weeks are not guaranteed.

Working Conditions:
Indoor and outdoor recreational environment subject to noise, distractions, seasonal heat, adverse weather conditions and periodic interruptions; moderate lifting up to 50 pounds.

Farrel-McWhirter Farm Camps – 4 positions

Monday - Friday, 8am - 4pm, 8 week assignment. There are two positions available working with children 3-5 years old and two positions available working with children 6-8 years old. These positions will work 35 to 40 hours a week, with rotating themes, related arts/crafts activities and outdoor games. Includes working with farm animals and driving a tractor. Minimum of 18 years of age.

Boredom Buster Camps at the Old Redmond Schoolhouse Community Center and Anderson Park – 6 positions
Monday - Friday, hours will be scheduled in 8 hour shifts from 7:30am - 6pm, 10 week assignment. These positions will work with school age children, 6-12 years old, with weekly themes, related arts/crafts activities, outdoor games and weekly field trips. These positions will work 35-40 hours per week, and will also cover the before and after care program.  You must be over 18 years of age, have a current driver’s license and an insurable driving record for these positions. Includes swimming in Lake Sammamish and driving a 15 passenger van.

Friday Discovery Days Instructors – 1 position
Fridays, 9am – 4pm, 7 week assignment. These positions will work 4 to 8 hours per week, and lead parent/child classes and children 4-6 years old in theme-based games, crafts, and outdoor adventures at Farrel-McWhirter Farm Park on Fridays. Minimum of 16 years of age.*Can combine with Mini Sports.

Mini-Sports Camps – 6 - 8 positions
Monday - Thursday, 9am - 12pm, 6 week assignment. These positions work 12 to 14 hours per week. Manage a small group of 4-6 year olds and teach the basic principles of soccer, basketball and T-ball. Minimum of 16 years of age. *Can combine with Friday Discovery Days.

Day Camp Director – 1 position
Monday – Friday, varied hours. 10 week assignment that may include additional pre-season work. You must be over 21 years of age, have a current driver’s license and an insurable driving record. Oversee the Boredom Busters day camp program. Includes but is not limited to planning daily activities, assisting with training and scheduling of camp staff and volunteers, organizing and purchasing supplies, coordinating field trips, holding weekly staff meetings, covering staff lunch breaks, subbing for camp staff as needed, managing paperwork, communicating with participants, parents and staff, helping out with administrative duties in the office and other duties as assigned. This position will work 30 to 40 hours per week depending on program needs.
