HOURS: This is a supplemental, part-time
position that will work approximately 10 - 15 hours per week during afternoon
and evening hours. Hours may vary and include some weekends. Position is
limited to 1,040 hours per year.

Duties:
Under the direction of the Recreation Program Coordinator, this position
provides support for teen programs at the Old Fire House Teen Center. Duties
include but are not limited to: interacting with teens and providing
supervision and ensuring participant safety in busy drop-in program for 50-150
teens per evening; planning and leading activities appropriate for teen
audiences; maintaining Teen Center, including site preparation and clean-up; and
performing other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Knowledge of: current office practices and procedures; and computer software
programs (MS Office) and equipment.
Skill in: interpersonal skills, and customer service using tact, patience and
courtesy.
Ability to: work in a team setting; communicate effectively with teens and other
staff; explain and enforce City policies and procedures related to the Teen
Center; proactively deal with customer service concerns.
Education and Experience:
High School diploma or equivalent; training in recreation, art, education,
physical education, at-risk-youth or related field; and leadership experience
working with culturally and ethnically diverse teen populations required.
Bilingual in Spanish desired.
Licenses/Other Requirements:
Must be a minimum of 18 years of age. Valid Washington State driver's license
by date of hire and a driving record that meets City standards. Current First
Aid and CPR certifications by date of hire. Flexibility to work additional
hours beyond regular scheduled programs for special events.
Working Conditions:
Work is performed in a teen center environment, subject to frequent
interruptions and potentially stressful situations. Lifting up to 50 pounds may
be required.
