HOURS & DURATION: The incumbent will
generally work 20 hours per week, Mon-Fri. Availability to work occasional
evening and weekend hours for events is required. This is a supplemental
position, not to exceed 1040 hours per calendar year.

Duties:
Under the general direction of the Events and Marketing Administrator,
this position assists in planning, organizing, marketing and implementing of
annual special events for the Redmond community, such as Derby Days, Redmond
Lights, Eggstravaganza, and the Fun to be Fit Fair. With a strong emphasis on
customer service, this position works with the Events and Marketing
Administrator and the Events Coordinator to assist with Recreation Division
marketing projects, purchasing, inventory control, and performs other duties as
assigned.
Qualifications:
Knowledge of: general office practices and procedures; spelling; grammar; and
basic math; safe working procedures; and event management, event sponsorship and
marketing.
Skill in: MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint); basic bookkeeping;
proofreading and document editing; maintaining databases and preparing reports
and presentations; effective verbal and written communication skills; sales and
marketing; and organizational skills. Experience in community parade
organization preferred.
Ability to: be creative; work independently; manage large groups of people;
exercise mature judgment; organize and prioritize multiple work assignments and
meet deadlines; maintain effective relationships with staff, volunteers,
participants, vendors and the community; and communicate effectively and
tactfully both verbally and in writing.
Education and Experience: Any combination equivalent to: Associate's
degree in related field and two (2) years experience in an event planning or
closely related position. Experience working in a lead level position
preferred. Required event planning experience to include: sponsorship
development, large scale community event production, customer service, and
volunteer recruitment and coordination.
Licenses/Requirements: Valid Washington State
driver's license by date of hire and driving record that meets City standards.
First Aid/CPR certification is required within three months of hire date. Drive
City vehicles, including 14 passenger vans. Must be able to successfully pass a
criminal history background check.
Working Conditions: Work is primarily
performed in an office environment, although events are generally outdoors.
Travel to offsite locations or facilities will be required. Hours may vary
depending on meeting schedules and event needs. May occasionally be required to
lift boxes or files, usually not to exceed 30 pounds.
