HOURS: Supplemental, part-time position; will work up to 20 hours
per week with flexibility as needed. May be required to work additional hours
(with advanced notice) depending on workload. Position is limited to 1,040 hours
per year.

Duties:
Under the direction of the Program Coordinator, this position performs a
variety of general office functions in an active teen center environment.
Duties include but are not limited to: wordprocessing general correspondence,
reports, memos and flyers; answering multi-line phones, taking messages and
referring callers; responding to inquiries about teen activities, services and
facility use; maintaining files and records; registering participants utilizing
computerized registration system; accepting payments and depositing money for
fee-based programs; preparing minutes of monthly staff meetings and other
meetings as needed; processing mail; assisting with event promotions including
website updates, press releases and promotions distribution; hiring and
overseeing internship positions; maintaining Access databases, including program
participation and budget information; and performing other support duties as
assigned, including program implementation.
Qualifications:
Knowledge of: current office practices, procedures and equipment; cashiering and
financial recordkeeping; business English and composition.
Skill in: operating computer hardware and related software (MS Office Suite:
Word, Excel, Access including writing simple database queries, and graphics
programs); registration and/or facility booking software (CLASS) preferred.
Ability to: apply City policy and procedures; work effectively with teens,
volunteers, City staff, police officers, community support agencies, and other
diverse populations; work independently and in a team setting; communicate
effectively using tact, patience, and courtesy; proactively deal with customer
service concerns; take appropriate action in emergency situations; take
direction from multiple staff; prioritize work and meet deadlines; follow
written and verbal instructions; and have a high degree of accuracy in work
product.
Education and Experience:
High School diploma or equivalent supplemented by college-level course work AND
a minimum of one (1) year of related work experience. Previous experience in a
recreation or customer service-oriented work environment, and working with teens
is preferred.
Licenses/Other Requirements:
Must be a minimum of 18 years of age. Valid Washington State driver's license by
date of hire, and a driving record that meets City standards. Valid First
Aid/CPR certificates within 60 days of date of hire. Ability to work flexible
hours required to meet peak workloads and provide vacation coverage. Schedule
may include late afternoon, some evening, and weekend hours.
Working Conditions:
Work is performed in a teen center environment, which will include frequent
interruptions and potentially stressful situations. Lifting up to 30 pounds may
be required.
