SALARY:  $11.35 - $19.75/hour 
DATE OPEN:  Friday, October 2, 2009

HOURS:
  18+ hours per week. Schedule may vary to cover workload and may include some late afternoon, evening and/or weekend hours.  Position is limited to 1,040 hours per year.

Background:
The City of Redmond supports and produces art events and programs throughout the City and through the Redmond Arts Commission, a nine-member advisory board.  Activities include grant programs, performing arts events, fine arts exhibitions, public art, a sculpture exhibition program and more.

Duties:
Under the direction of the Arts Program Administrator, this position will perform a variety of general office & program support functions for the City of Redmond Arts program.  Duties include but are not limited to: event production, marketing support, website maintenance, and working with volunteers; writing contracts, marketing copy, and press releases; maintain office records, files, and perform other duties as assigned.  This position will also attend and oversee arts events, exhibition hangings, and Arts Commission meetings as necessary.

Qualifications:
Knowledge of: event production, social marketing (Facebook, Twitter, MySpace), traditional marketing, website maintenance, and current office practices.
Skill in: the use of a personal computer, MS Office software (Word, Outlook, Excel, etc.).
Ability to: work and communicate effectively and courteously with citizens, boards and commissions, City staff, community support agencies, and other diverse populations; proactively deal with customer services concerns; work independently to complete tasks; follow written and verbal instructions; produce detailed and accurate work product; handle multiple tasks simultaneously and with good humor; and learn and grow in arts administration.

Education and Experience:
High School diploma or equivalent and two (2) years experience in an office setting, event production, arts organization, or website production.  Bachelor degree in a related field and experience working in arts administration is preferred.

Licenses/Other Requirements:
Must have a valid Washington State driver's license by date of hire, and a driving record that meets City standards.

Working Conditions:

Work is performed in an open office setting subject to frequent interruptions. Climbing ladders, working outdoors, driving, and lifting up to 30 pounds is required.
