SALARY:  $9.50 - $16.00 per hour

LOCATION:
  Farrel-McWhirter Park, located at 19545 NE Redmond Road, Redmond, WA.
HOURS:
  The Farm Theme Host will work approximately 0-25 hours per week on average.  Scheduled days will include Saturdays and/or Sundays, and may include additional hours/days during peak season (April - September).  Requires flexibility to work in other program or farm maintenance capacities as scheduled by the supervisor. This position will work year-round, not to exceed 1,040 hours in a 12 month period.

Duties:
The Party program host will provide enthusiastic customer service to party groups of up to 30 people, twice each weekend day. This position will greet guests and plan, prepare and conduct various farm themed program activities for children aged 2-10 and their families. Program activities may include farm tours, wagon rides, pony rides and farm related crafts and activities. Party host will also research, recommend and implement craft projects for a variety of age groups.  This position will interact with the public frequently, and will be responsible for the effective communication of farm and park policies and procedures, as well as farm program information. Must relate well with children and adults. Other duties may be assigned depending on experience and availability, to include farm maintenance duties and equestrian instruction.

Qualifications:
Knowledge of: farm animals, arts and crafts, and program/activity development for children.
Skill in: providing excellent customer service; working with children and the public; caring for animals.
Ability to: plan and lead farm themed activities in a safe and fun manner; communicate effectively and courteously with the public and City staff; proactively deal with customer service concerns; learn and communicate park and program policies and procedures; work independently to complete tasks; follow written and verbal instructions.

Education and Experience:
Must have some previous work experience planning and leading activities with children.  Some equine experience is preferred.

Licenses/Other Requirements:
Must have a valid Washington State driver's license by date of hire, and a driving record that meets City standards.  Must be willing to obtain first aid and CPR certification upon hire. Must be a minimum of 16 years of age by date of hire.

Working Conditions:

Work is performed in a farm setting and includes exposure to farm animals, farm equipment, and weather conditions. Lifting up to 50 pounds is required.
