SALARY:  $4,433 - $6,639 per month (2006 rates) DOE 
DURATION:  This is a 3 - 4 year limited duration position with benefits.

Duties:
Under the direction of the Network Services Manager, this position maintains the City’s network systems in a highly reliable and available state. Duties include, but are not limited to: maintaining, analyzing, testing, upgrading and documenting City network including firewalls, routers and switches; assisting with support of Windows servers; providing Tier 3 support to employees as necessary; and performing other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
Knowledge of: TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS, LANs, WANs, WAPs, VLANs, and VPNs; network security including Firewall ACLs, router ACLs, mac address filters, and RADIUS servers. Desire knowledge of Cisco routers and switches, Foundry routers and switches, PIX firewalls, F5 BigIP and Firepass, Trend IGSA, and/or Aruba Wireless. Experience supporting mobile devices desired. Familiarity with Windows XP and Windows Server 2000/2003.
Skill in: troubleshooting and problem solving; documentation; organizing and prioritizing workload; deploying network routers and switches.
Ability to: establish and maintain effective working relationships with all levels of City staff; handle multiple simultaneous time-critical projects in a dynamic environment; communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing; work independently and as part of a team; operate applicable hardware, software and related peripheral devices.

Education and Experience:
Three (3) years progressively responsible experience in a corporate IT environment. Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems or closely related field desired.

Licenses/Requirements: Valid Washington State Driver’s License by date of hire. Fulfillment of bargaining unit agreement membership is required within 30 days of hire. Must be able to successfully pass a background and fingerprint check.

Working Conditions: Work is performed primarily in an office environment. May require remaining on-call and working some evenings and/or weekends.
