SALARY:  $4,433 - $6,639 per month (2006 rates) DOE 
DURATION:  This is a 3 - 4 year limited duration position with benefits.

Duties:
Under the direction of the Support Services Manager, this position supports both the end-users and the 2nd Tier technicians as part of the Helpdesk team. Duties include, but are not limited to: diagnosing and resolving desktop and mobile device hardware and software issues, and network and printer problems; testing and implementing new support tools; planning and implementing enterprise rollout of operating systems and applications; assisting in maintaining telecommunications systems and associated software; and performing other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
Knowledge of: computer system principles, practices, and terminology; Windows XP; MSOffice 2002; MSOffice 2003; Active Directory Users and Computers; Wireless Networking; TCP/IP configuration; Systems Management Server and Symantec Ghost; desktop security and Windows scripting.
Skill in: troubleshooting and problem solving; tracking call activity and reporting results; supporting end-users; documentation; organizing and prioritizing workload; deploying operating systems and upgrades.
Ability to: install, maintain and troubleshoot PC images and peripheral devices; establish and maintain effective working relationships with all levels of City staff; handle multiple simultaneous time-critical projects in a dynamic environment; communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing; work independently and as part of a team; operate applicable hardware, software and related peripheral devices.

Education and Experience:
Three (3) to five (5) years progressively responsible experience in a corporate IT environment. Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems or closely related field desired. Experience with SMS, Windows XP and Vista; MSOffice 2003/2007; Active Directory Users and Computers; IP phone; Wireless Networking; Symantec Ghost; TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS, LANs, WANs, VLANs and VPNs; Trend IGSA, and/or Aruba Wireless desired. Experience supporting mobile devices desired.

Licenses/Requirements: Valid Washington State Driver’s License by date of hire. Fulfillment of bargaining unit agreement membership is required within 30 days of hire. Must be able to successfully pass a background and fingerprint check.

Working Conditions: Work is performed primarily in an office environment. May require remaining on-call and working some evenings and/or weekends.
