HOURS: This is a full time position that
will work four days per week, 10 hours per day with one hour for lunch. Shifts
will be from 12 to 10 p.m. Monday - Friday and from 1 to 11 p.m. on Saturday.
The schedule will alternate between a Monday -Thursday and a Wednesday-Saturday
schedule. Flexibility to work additional hours beyond regularly scheduled
programs for special events is required.

Duties:
Under the direction of the Recreation Program Coordinator, this position
is responsible for: design and implementation of on-site programming to include
the drop in and media lab programs at the Old Fire House Teen Center; coordinate
the quarterly calendar programming; assist with oversight of program and media
lab staff; facilitate media lab board and coordinate meetings; develop program
descriptions and promotional materials; assist with budget development and
coordination for drop-in and fee based programs; plan and lead activities
appropriate for teen audiences; ensure participant safety and assist in the
supervision of busy drop-in program for 50-150 teens per evening; ensure
maintenance and upkeep of Teen Center including site preparation and clean-up;
other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Knowledge of: recreation or teen program development, budget monitoring, office
procedures, and computer software knowledge.
Skill in: board meeting facilitation and member recruitment, event and program
promotion, leadership and strong oral and written communication.
Ability to: oversee staff, participants, and programs; work in a team setting;
communicate effectively with teens and other staff; explain and enforce City
policies and procedures; and proactively deal with customer services concerns.
Education and Experience: AA combination of education and experience
equivalent to an AA degree in recreation, art, education or related field, and
1-2 years recreation programming experience. Previous experience working with
teen or culturally and ethnically diverse populations is strongly desired.
Licenses/Requirements: Must be a minimum of
18 years of age. Valid Washington State driver's license by date of hire and a
driving record that meets city standards. Current First Aid and CPR
certifications by date of hire. Fulfillment of bargaining unit agreement
membership is required within 30 days on hire.
Working Conditions:
Work is performed in a teen center environment, subject to frequent
interruptions and potentially stressful situations. Lifting up to 50 pounds may
be required.
