SALARY:  $15.01 - $22.33 per hour, DOE (2006 rates) 
HOURS:  Part-time position, working 30 hours per week, Mon-Fri. Flexibility to work occasional evenings is required. Pro-rated benefits.
DURATION:
  This is a two (2) year, limited duration position.

Duties:
Under the supervision of the Business and Facilities Manager, this position performs a variety of administrative support duties for the Recreation Division of the Parks and Recreation Department. Duties include, but are not limited to: composing routine correspondence; editing and formatting the work of other staff; initiating administrative reports; assisting with budget document preparation; gathering, compiling, and maintaining data; creating spreadsheets, tables, and presentations; maintaining personnel and administrative files; taking and transcribing staff meeting notes; assisting with payroll distribution; providing back-up support to office staff; assisting with website maintenance; and performing other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
Knowledge of: Governmental policies, procedures, and general operation; general office practices and procedures; spelling, grammar, and basic math; safe working procedures.
Skill in: MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook); basic bookkeeping; proofreading; document editing; maintaining data bases and records; preparing reports and presentations; website maintenance.
Ability to: determine work priorities and handle routine and non-routine matters; work independently and cooperatively with others; write and edit documents and reports; create spreadsheets; establish and maintain effective working relationships with coworkers and the public; communicate effectively and tactfully verbally and in writing; resolve issues with a positive outcome.

Education and Experience:
Any combination equivalent to: Associate’s degree in related field AND two (2) years clerical or administrative experience required. Public sector experience preferred.

Licenses/Requirements: Valid Washington State Driver’s License with good driving record. CPR/First Aid certification with 30 days of hire. Fulfillment of bargaining unit agreement membership is required within 30 days of hire.

Working Conditions: Work is performed primarily in an office environment in a community center. May occasionally be required to lift boxes or files, usually not exceeding 30 pounds.
