PW Supplemental Maintenance Aides (11 vacancies) 
Job Number 08-17
Public Works - Maintenance Operations Division

SALARY:  $12.54 - $17.25 per hour 
DATE OPEN:   February 1, 2008
DATE CLOSED:  Open until filled; preference given to applications received by February 20, 2008.
HOURS:  Monday - Friday (40 hrs/week), generally 7:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m., but is dependant upon specific work group needs.
START DATES:  5 positions begin in March/April; 6 positions begin in May/June.
POSITIONS IN:  Water, Wastewater, Stormwater, Streets, and Fleet.

Duties:
Duties include but are not limited to: performing routine tasks such as weed-eating, raking, edging, shoveling and other means of mechanical vegetation control; litter pick-up; cleaning and repairing trails, grounds, buildings and other public facilities; traffic control in a work zone of a city right-of-way; cleaning and painting fire hydrants; installing water meters; fleet shop maintenance; assisting other employees with maintenance tasks; and performing other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:
High School diploma or equivalent. Experience in maintenance or other related work preferred. Must be 18 years of age or older by date of hire. Mechanical aptitude and use of power and related hand tools is desired.

Licenses/Requirements:
Valid Washington State driver's license with good driving record by date of hire. Possession of a valid flagging card and/or an adult first aid/CPR card is desirable. Successful applicants must provide own steel-toed, safety boots (City will provide $60.00 toward that purchase). Physical agility, stamina and ability to lift up to 50 pounds required.

Working Conditions:
Work is primarily performed outside in all types of weather.
