Seasonal Park Maintenance Aide

SALARY:  $12.54 - $17.25/hour 
DATE OPEN:  Friday, July 25, 2008
DATE CLOSED:  Open until filled.
DURATION:  Approximately 3 months
HOURS:
  Varied, may include evenings and weekends.  Full and part-time supplemental positions available.  Position is limited to 1,040 hours per year.

Duties:
Work with full-time Park Maintenance Technicians performing routine tasks within Park Maintenance programs including: sports field maintenance – field preparation; facility maintenance – litter pick-up, restroom cleaning and court cleaning; preventative maintenance – small repairs and pressure washing; horticultural maintenance – shrub bed and flower maintenance; urban forestry – trail and tree maintenance; facility repair – carpentry and other skills necessary to make repairs to park facilities. Provide education to the public and youth groups. And, performing other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:
High School diploma or equivalent. Experience in maintenance or other related work preferred. Mechanical aptitude and use of power and related hand tools is desired.

Licenses/Other Requirements:
Must be 18 years of age or older by date of hire. Valid Washington State driver's license by date of hire, and a driving record that meets city standards. Successful applicants must provide own steel-toed, safety boots (City will provide $60.00 toward that purchase). Physical agility, stamina and ability to lift up to 50 pounds required.

Working Conditions:

Work is primarily performed outdoors in all types of weather. Flexible work schedule, including evenings and weekends.
