Holidays - 12 days per year
Vacation - 11 days per year during years 1 and 2

The City provides medical, dental and vision coverage for
regular, full and part time employees and their dependents. Employee
co-pays are modest and depend on an employee's plan choice and number of
dependents. The City has an active Wellness program and on-site workout
facilities.
The City provides employees with Group Term Life
insurance and Accidental Death and Dismemberment insurance coverage.
The City's Municipal Employees Benefit Trust (MEBT) is a Social Security
replacement program that is very popular with employees. Employees
contribute an amount to MEBT equal to what they would contribute to Social
Security. The City matches 80% of the employees' contribution.
Employees are fully vested in the plan after five (5) years of service.
All regular, full and part time City employees are covered by Washington State
retirement systems PERS or LEOFF plans.
The City offers a 457 deferred compensation plan.
The City's Employee Education
Assistance Program reimburses 100% of the cost of tuition up to an annual maximum
per year for job related Associate, Bachelor and Master's degree programs.
City offices are open Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Individual departments or divisions may establish flexible
work schedules to meet seasonal workloads and user group needs. Police
Department Patrol employees work a 10-hour shift schedule. Fire Department
Suppression employees work a 24-hour shift schedule. Some positions may require
weekend, holiday or overtime work.
Normally new employees
are paid up to the mid-point of the salary range, depending on qualifications and experience.
Employees are eligible for salary increases at the end of their probationary
periods and annually thereafter conditioned on acceptable performance. The
City provides cost-of-living increases.
Many City
positions require union membership.
The City
