How to Apply for a Position


Welcome!

We are pleased that you are considering employment with the City of Redmond.

APPLICATION OPTIONS
There are 2 options for completing a job application.  A Basic Form Packet may be printed and filled out by hand, or the Online Application Packet may be filled in and submitted electronically. The information that you submit electronically will be maintained in a secure environment and used for recruitment and selection purposes only.

Online Overview:

  • You will need to use a minimum of Acrobat 5.0 and Internet Explorer 5.5 or Netscape 6.2 to obtain best results.

FILING OF APPLICATIONS
Applications for employment with the City of Redmond are accepted only when a vacancy exists and only during the open recruitment period specified on the job announcement.

Applications are available online, by mail or in person at Redmond City Hall Human Resources Department located at 15670 N.E. 85th Street.  You may call our 24-hour jobline at 425-556-2121 to request an application.  It is not the City's policy to FAX or express mail application packets.

Your completed City application must be received by 5:00 p.m. on the closing date specified on the job announcement, unless otherwise indicated, to be considered. 

SCREENING
The quality and completeness of the information that you provide on the application form will determine whether or not you are called for an interview.  You must complete the application form in its entirety to be considered for a position.  Incomplete answers or "see resume" may cause your application to be excluded from consideration.

TESTING
Applicants may be tested to measure their ability to perform the essential functions of the position for which they are applying.  Tests that measure knowledge, skills, physical abilities and/or medical condition may be required.  A drug screen is required for all safety sensitive positions.

INTERVIEW
In most cases, persons selected for interview will be notified by telephone within ten (10) business days of the closing date shown on the job announcement.  All applicants who are interviewed will be notified of the results of the interview by letter.  Please provide the City seventy-two (72) hours advance notice if you require special accommodation during the selection process.

NOTIFICATION
The City will send no formal notification to applicants not selected for an interview.  You are encouraged to check the City's website for the status of vacant positions.  Positions listed as "interviewing" indicate that all candidates selected for interview have been contacted.
