There is no fee for residential burn permits and they may be obtained at any
of the fire stations.

establish and for updates on burn bans or call 1-800-595-4341.
A carbon copy permit will be filled out at the time of application.

Redmond Fire Department / King County Fire District 34 will allow residential
burning in some areas of the fire district during the months of March, April, May, October, November, and December.

This permit is issued on the following terms and conditions and for the purposes stated herein:
- All yard and other residential burning shall be done from 10:00 a.m. until sunset.
- Only natural vegetation shall be burned. The fire shall not contain any lumber, rubber products, asphalt products, petroleum products, plastics, garbage, dead animals, or any waste material that emits smoke or creates offensive odors.
- Persons and equipment capable of extinguishing the fire shall be on the burn site and in attendance at all times.
- There shall be no burning within 50 feet of any fence or other structure.
- The outdoor fires shall not be caused or allowed during meteorological conditions conducive to the buildup of air contaminants. (Section 8.02(a) of Agency Regulation I.)
- The air contaminants emitted from the outdoor fires shall not be in sufficient quantities, and of such characteristics and duration as is, or is likely to be, injurious to human health, plant or animal life, or property, or which unreasonably interferes with enjoyment of life and property (Section 9.11(a) of Agency Regulation I).
- Particulate matter from the outdoor fires must not be allowed to become deposited upon the property of others (Section 9.04 of Agency Regulation I.)
- The burn pile shall not be larger than 4 feet in diameter and 3 feet in height.
- Only one pile shall be burned at any one time.
- The burning permit shall be at the location of the fire.
- This permit shall not be valid during any air pollution episode or period of impaired air quality.
- This permit shall only be valid during the months of March, April, May, October, November, and December.
Any permit issued may be revoked for the protection of life or property or to prevent or abate the nuisances caused by such burning.
(A nuisance would be defined as ash fallout or smoke accumulation in the area of residential occupancies.)
The violation of or failure to comply with any provision of this permit is a misdemeanor. --

enforcement action by Puget
Sound Clean Air Agency.
If a person starts a fire without a permit or if a permit holder fails to comply with any term or condition of the permit, and as a result of that failure the fire department is required to suppress a fire, the person or permit holder is liable for the cost of fire suppression services. --
