The Redmond Police/Fire Citizens Academy offers Redmond citizens and employees an insider's view of the inner workings of the city's police and fire departments, their procedures, and their ability to handle various types of criminal and emergency situations.
Presented biannually in the spring and fall, the free two-month program features informative and entertaining instruction on topics ranging from crime prevention, patrol procedures, traffic enforcement, accident investigation to fire/arson investigation, rescue operations, SWAT, K-9, and
Emergency Preparedness.
Instructors include representatives from public education, recruitment, hiring, training, fire prevention, investigations, code enforcement, EMS/Medic One, suppression, special operations, technical rescue, and hazardous materials.
Participants should have an interest in public safety, law, local government, and community affairs, and must be accepted into the program. Classes are limited to 20 participants. Classes meet at the Redmond Public Safety Building, 8701 160th Ave. NE., 10 consecutive Wednesdays from 6:30-9:15 p.m. and on two Saturdays, 7:30 a.m.-3 p.m.
