City Clerk's Office

The Office of the City Clerk provides the professional link between the citizens, the local governing body, and agencies of government at other levels.

The City Clerk is responsible to the Finance and Information Services Director, and is a Manager within the Department of Finance and Information Services.  The role of the City Clerk, and that of the staff in the Office of the City Clerk, requires neutrality and professionalism as key qualities in conducting its business.  The office is a non-partisan, objective, and collaborative office focused on bringing high quality service to all of its customers, internal and external to the City of Redmond.

General Mandated Duties of the City Clerk
  • Maximizes Access to City Government

  • Serves as Liaison to the Mayor/Council and the Public

  • Supports the Mayor/Council/City Staff in their Legislative Functions

  • Administers the production of all meetings of the City Council; keeping a complete and accurate record of the proceedings, and making this information available to staff and to the public in a way that is easily accessed and understood

  • Prepares agendas and Council packets; provides for ordinance codification; and takes oaths, affirmations, and acknowledgements as necessary

  • Maintains custody of the official City Seal and attests (confirms to be genuine) deeds, and other documents, such as ordinances, resolutions, minutes, and contracts, by signing and affixing the City Seal

  • Attests to official acts of the Mayor and provides certified copies of original records as may be required

  • Manages City records for active and inactive files, develops retention schedules and procedures for inventory, storage, and destruction of all City records as necessary.  Assures that public records, including ordinances, resolutions, rules, regulations, and codes are available for public inspection as required by law

  • Publishes/posts legal notices for the City Council, advises the Mayor, Members of the Council, and the Public regarding date, time, and location of all Council meetings

  • Serves in a parliamentary capacity to the Mayor/Council/City Staff when needed

  • Administers records, elections, and Office of the Hearing Examiner budgets

  • Serves as the Administrator of the Office of the Hearing Examiner, whose jurisdiction it is to hear and make recommendations/decisions regarding land use actions, code violations, and false alarm appeals

  • Receives and administers bid openings for City projects

  • Provides Notary services
