Information Services
Responsible for budget development, purchasing, payroll, accounts
payable, fixed asset/inventory control, general accounting, business
licenses, utility billing, risk management, information services,
City Clerk's Office and the Hearing Examiner.
Fire
Provides fire suppression, rescue, emergency medical care, and
hazardous materials response. Responsible for the City's disaster
preparedness program. Administers fire safety inspections and
education programs aimed at reducing fire and medical emergencies.
Human Resources
Responsible for recruiting City employees; administering personnel
policies, salaries and benefit programs; providing training; and
managing labor relations.
Parks and Recreation
Responsible for the development and maintenance of city parks and
greenbelts, the rental and scheduling of park and community
facilities, and provision of recreation and arts programs and
activities.
Planning and
Community Development
Responsible for development review; long range, land use and
transportation planning; building inspection; code enforcement;
community relations and information; and human services. One-stop
Permit Center for building and development permits located on the
second floor of City Hall.
Police
Provides Redmond citizens protection from criminal activity through
identification and apprehension of offenders, detection of crime,
and crime prevention programs. Gathers and maintains crime
statistical and records information.
Public
Works
Responsible for building and maintaining the transportation
(streets, sidewalks, and bike lanes), water, sewer, and stormwater
infrastructure systems. Manages environmental services including
waterway enhancements, drinking water, recycling, and garbage (solid
waste) programs.

Communications
Citywide community meetings and outreach is managed through this
office.
WWW.Redmond.gov website is
maintained through a collaborative effort between this office and
Information Services. It serves Redmond's residents and businesses
with the assistance of all City departments.
Redmond City Televison
was created in 1996 as a comprehensive and convenient way for
residents to receive information about issues, events and services
within the City of Redmond.
Press releases and
media relations are coordinated through this office, outside of
those for Police and Fire.
Focus on Redmond Newsmagazine
is the City's quarterly publication sent to all Redmond residents
and businesses. It includes information from all departments and
news from the community.
Cable Franchise
agreement with Comcast is managed through this office. The current
franchise is in effect through 2012.
Civil legal services are provided on contract by the law offices of
Ogden, Murphy, Wallace. This involves drafting ordinances and
resolutions for Council consideration and providing legal advice to
the City Council, Boards and Commissions, and department staff. The
Ogden firm also represents the City in civil and criminal
proceedings and assists in the negotiation of labor contracts. A
regional law firm with offices in Seattle and Wenatchee and more
than 40 years of municipal law experience, Ogden, Murphy, Wallace
has acted as legal counsel for the City of Redmond since 1980.
The Prosecutor's Office files and prosecutes gross misdemeanor,
misdemeanor, and traffic infraction cases involving adult offenders
in Northeast District Court. The office also prosecutes code
violation cases prepared by the Code Compliance Officer before the
Hearing Examiner. Staff members work in close cooperation with the
Redmond Police Department, Northeast District Court personnel, and
the Code Compliance Officer to ensure that cases are filed and
prosecuted in a timely fashion.

The City Clerk's Office supports the Mayor and City Council,
oversees the Hearing Examiner function, coordinates City elections
and monitors state legislative actions. The Clerk's Office is
responsible for coordinating and distributing
agendas and information in
support of City Council meetings. The City Clerk is the official
Public Records Officer of the City and maintains official City
records including minutes, ordinances, resolutions, contracts, deeds
and titles. In conjunction with the Police Department, the Clerk's
Office oversees and responds to public
records requests.

The City's Hearing Examiner is an independent official selected by
the City Council to conduct quasi-judicial hearings on matters or
appeals involving the application of land use and development
regulations and compliance with city codes.
