Regional and commercial traffic place a high demand on the
transportation system in Southeast Redmond. Future major
development in that area will only increase the demand on already
congested roads.
Two studies and a preliminary design are the main components of the
Greater Southeast Redmond Area Transportation Study.
The purpose of the study is to identify existing and predicted issues
that will enable the City to deliver a sustainable transportation plan
that accommodates all modes of travel. (Click on the link provided
to see a map that
identifies the boundaries of the study area.)
A brief
description of these three components follows:
- Freight mobility study, with a primary focus on Southeast
Redmond, identifies issues, types, and the needs of freight and
goods movement throughout the City and addresses how the current and
future transportation facilities are affected. (See
Transportation Master
Plan Chapter 5.)
- Southeast Redmond Transportation Study identifies and
defines a set of planned improvements for the Southeast Redmond
neighborhood that addresses safety, congestion relief, connectivity
and mobility for all travel modes, and sustainability.
- NE 76 Street preliminary corridor design (from Redmond Way to
192 Avenue NE) determines the ultimate street cross section,
right-of-way (ROW) limits, and geometry. NE 76 Street is the
main east-west corridor through the Southeast Redmond neighborhood.
It is expected that the findings and recommendations from the freight
and goods activity study will be used as input into the Greater
Southeast Redmond Area Transportation Study, and that the findings and
recommendations from the Southeast Redmond Transportation Study
will provide a context for the preliminary design of NE 76 Street.
