Project Cost:
$1.7 million

Funding Source: City of Redmond Capital Investment Program

Project Manager: Dennis Brunelle (dbrunelle@redmond.gov)

Status: The project is in construction with an expected completion date near the end of 2007 or early in 2008.

For current traffic impact information, please check the press release posted on August 2, 2007.

Project Description: The Redmond Way Sidewalk and Transit Improvement Project is part of 1.3 miles of transit enhancements to be constructed in Redmond and in Kirkland between 132 and 140 Avenue NE. The project includes the construction of a sidewalk along the north side of Redmond Way and the installation of a planter strip between the sidewalk and the westbound lanes of traffic. The west to northbound right turn lane at the intersection of Redmond Way and 132 Avenue NE will be extended 70 feet to help improve level of service at this location. A center median will be built between 132 and 139 Avenue NE. These two Redmond Way intersections will be widened to permit u-turns since the proposed medians will restrict left turn movements. Redmond Way is not considered a multi-modal corridor, therefore no bike lanes are planned for Redmond Way as part of this project. Rebuilt and retro-fitted ADA ramps will be installed on Redmond Way at the intersections of 132 and 139 Avenue NE and also at the intersection of Redmond Way and 140 Avenue NE. All of these improvements are consistent with the City’s Comprehensive Plan and with the pedestrian and transit policies developed during the Transportation Master Plan.
