166 Avenue NE
Corridor Improvements

"Better connections within the community for all modes (of travel) are needed to tie neighborhoods and commercial areas together, improving efficiency and economic vitality while promoting continued high quality of life."

(Transportation Master Plan Executive Summary)

Construction
Construction begins on Monday, September 8 for a new traffic signal at the intersection of 166 Avenue NE at NE 104 Street.  In addition, 166 Avenue NE will be reconfigured from 4 lanes to 3 along the Redmond Junior High School property.  The new configuration will reduce 166 Avenue NE to one through lane in each direction with a center left-turn lane and bike lanes on each side of the street.

Drivers and pedestrians can expect to see construction crews Monday through Friday from 7 AM to 4 PM for approximately the next 10 weeks until the signal is in operation by the end of November.

Construction is expected to close sidewalks, each closure taking about 2 weeks.  Pedestrians will be directed to temporary crossings that will be installed for the duration of this project.  Flaggers and elementary school crossing guards will be on site to assist pedestrians through the work zone.  Redmond Police will also be present.  Drivers will be flagged through the intersection, which is expected to be more efficient than the existing 4-way stop.

There are always potential delays when entering a construction zone, so drivers are advised to use alternate routes, if possible.

Check this site for more information as the project is underway.  Regular construction updates will be posted by Public Works Construction.
