This project improves pedestrian and vehicle safety in the NE 83rd Street corridor and further emphasizes NE 83rd Street as a local street.

Design
The City Council approved the final design of a project on NE 83rd Street that extends from 160th to 161st Avenue NE (see map). It includes the following elements:

• Aligns NE 83rd Street at 160th Avenue NE and adds curb bulbs
• Angled parking on the north side and parallel parking on the south side of NE 83rd Street
• Aligns NE 83rd Street at 161st Avenue NE and adds curb bulbs and a traffic signal
• Provides additional street trees, landscaping, and wider sidewalks
• Maintains mature trees where possible

Timeline
The project is expected to be complete at the end of 2005.
