Downtown Redmond

The Excitement is Building...

as the Downtown Redmond neighborhood transforms into a vibrant urban center. Pairing new residential and commercial building with classic historic spaces, and then adding a connected street grid with 2-way travel lanes, and variety of cultural and recreational opportunities, Redmond will continue to evolve as the place people desire to live, work, play and invest. While occasional disruptions to roads and street work will accompany the vision, the end result will yield a Downtown core easier to navigate by foot, bike and transit, and a place that supports local businesses enjoying a strong economy and lively atmosphere.

  • A 2-acre downtown park
  • New trails and transit connections
  • A blend of historic, commercial and residential spaces
  • Two-way travel and connected street grids
  • Over 1,000 new residential units

Downtown is one of two designated regional growth centers in Redmond and today is home to nearly 6,000 residents and more than 10,000 jobs. Downtown is targeted to accommodate one-third of Redmond’s planned housing growth through 2030. Since 2010, more than 1,200 new multi-family homes have been issued permits and the Downtown center is on track for a nearly three-fold increase in population, from 4,300 in 2010 to 11,400 in 2030. Downtown is located at the heart of Redmond and is adjacent to thousands of additional people who live or work within an easy walk or bike ride.

The initial work related to the 2-Way Conversion project includes intermittent partial lane closures into mid-August 2016 as crews set up temporary traffic signals along Redmond Way. These partial lane closures are expected to be in affect during workday hours only
