Redmond rocked with sizzling summer concerts at City Hall during 2012. Crowds took a lunch break, soaked up the sun and enjoyed music by hot bands! All shows were free and open to the public.
Tālavya
July 19, 12 – 1 p.m.
This globe-trotting tabla percussion group from India shares their contemporary spin on classical Indian music. Led by master drummer Pandit Divyang Vakil, Tālavya plays with all the passion and power of rock band but with the precision and subtlety of classical ensemble.
Mark DuFresne 
July 26, 12 – 1 p.m.
DuFresne’s full-throated vocals and harmonica playing sound like smoky echoes from a Kansas City juke joint. He is the former lead singer of the nationally acclaimed Roomful of Blues band and the most awarded singer, songwriter and harmonica player by the Washington Blues Society.
Clinton Fearon & Boogie Brown Band 
August 2, 12 – 1 p.m.
Boogie with this reggae master and his full band with horns. For more than 17 years, Fearon was a key member of the legendary reggae group The Gladiators. He also grooved with Yabby You, Jimmy Riley, Max Romeo, Junior Byles and many others.
Sambatuque 
August 9, 12 – 1 p.m.
Sway to music and dance of Brazil and the Caribbean! Sambatuque (pronounced samba-too-kie) plays a charismatic blend of world rhythm and swaggering Afro-Caribbean melody. This high-energy band will feature a samba dancer and is as much fun to watch as they are to hear.
Carlos Cascante y su Tumbao 
August 16, 12 – 1:30 p.m. with Dance Lesson
Hot salsa dance music from this Grammy award winning singer and his celebrated Latin band. Cascante splits his time between singing for New York’s famed Spanish Harlem Orchestra and his work in the Emerald City with Tumbao. Can’t dance? Bring a friend because the show starts with a free dance lesson.
Kafana Republik 
August 23, 12 – 1 p.m.
The kafana (cafe) is a special place in the Balkans, where people gather to share song, stories, food, drink and passion. Hear this spirited play the music of Macedonia, Bosnia, Bulgaria, Serbia and Croatia. No passport needed for this journey. All are welcome in the Kafana Republik.
