RUWI Study Reports

Executive Summary

Executive Summary

An integrated summary of highlights from the entire study; a good overview for managers and decision makers. (8 pages)

Summary Report

Summary Report

A more detailed summary of the entire study that includes overviews of methodology, analytical results, and RUWI's management implications. Written for anyone interested in surface water quality issues and especially stormwater management. (56 pages)

RUWI Report 2

Stormwater Management in Redmond

An historical review of how the City of Redmond's approach to managing stormwater and surface water quality issues has evolved over the years. One reviewer said it reads like an historical novel - well not exactly!  (23.34 MB, 96 pages)

Land Use, Impervious Surface & Water Quality

This report describes the technical "core" of the study, relating Redmond's historically declining water quality to increasing total impervious surface across the City's watersheds. It presents a detailed explanation of methodology and analytical results. This report also describes how continuing development across the City is likely to impact future surface water quality. Probably of greatest interest to stormwater management staff and stream habitat managers.  (88 pages)

Supporting Data Analysis

Supporting Data Analyses

A brief account of general landscape, or watershed-scale variables that can be directly correlated to changes in surface water quality across Redmond. (24 pages)

Bellevue Storm Data

Bellevue's Storm Event Data (1988-1993)

A review and reinterpretation of Bellevue's unique and very valuable storm event data set that illustrates the role of increasing watershed impervious surface on declining surface water quality. Another technical "core" element of the RUWI study. (68 pages)

Duration Curve

Water Quality Duration Curve Analysis

While this is probably the toughest technical element of the RUWI study to understand, it is included with an EPA-sponsored paper that fully describes the duration curve methodology.  Appendix B of this report contains site-by-site duration curve analyses for 62 water quality parameter/sample station combinations and is only available online.
