Redmond Community Center at Marymoor Village

We currently offer a diverse range of recreation programs and services out of the Old Redmond School House Community Center (ORSCC), a 40,000 square foot facility located at 16600 NE 80th St.

We have a long-term partnership of sharing space with Lake Washington School District (LWSD), owners of the ORSCC. However, as part of the LWSD long-term facilities planning, they will be remodeling ORSCC for district preschool programs serving special needs and low-income families.

As we prepare for the use of ORSCC to change, we looked at several options for relocating programs. Staff evaluated many different options and found a public, educational building in the Marymoor area, the Lake Washington Institute of Technology (LWTech) Redmond Campus at 6505 176th Ave. NE. Built in 2005, the 20,000 square foot LWTech campus has seven classrooms, a tiered classroom with stadium seating, café, state of the art media and sound, and ample parking. Our two-year lease with LWTech starts Dec. 1, 2017 (see council documentation on lease approval).

The new campus cannot house all programs due to size and room limitations, so some programming will be moved to the Redmond Senior Center, Teen Center, and LWSD schools. The City is actively working with program providers and rental user groups to identify spaces for classes.

Staff anticipates winter programming will start in these new locations by early 2018. Once details are finalized, we will let the community know where each program will be located.
