November 3rd Livable Redmond Event
Did you miss the event on Nov 3 known as Livable Redmond: A Community Conversation About Sustainability? The Final Report captures event highlights, including six major sustainability principles and benefits emerging from this productive community conversation.
Livable Redmond Final Report available here.
The report summarizes event preparation and execution, outreach methods, and major concepts generated through citizen input. Verbatim comments and event-related materials are included as appendices.
On November 3, 2010, the City held a community conversation to answer the question, "What does sustainability mean to Redmond?" Approximately 85 citizens attended the event at City Hall, which included displays for the Comprehensive Plan and Transportation Master Plan updates, followed by a keynote presentation from Andy Wappler, former meteorologist and current Vice President of Corporate Affairs for Puget Sound Energy.
Andy's talk enlivened the evening, and inspired ideas for eight small group discussions that followed. Attendees were treated to a healthy and delicious dinner courtesy of PCC Natural Markets.
The evening closed with brief reports from each group, and Councilwoman Kim Allen noted the value of the input received, and explained how it will become a basis for policy development and future decision-making.
