Population and Employment
Population and Employment
City role: indirect
Three measures: number of residents in Redmond, number of jobs in Redmond, and Share of Regional Employment (the percentage of jobs in the four-county region - King, Pierce, Snohomish, and Kitsap - located in Redmond).

Population and employment. Redmond’s population grew by an estimated 1,480 people in 2014. The total number of jobs in Redmond increased by about 3.3 percent to 84,547 from 2013 to 2014 (latest available).

Redmond plans to accommodate 78,000 residents and 119,000 jobs by 2030. The existing number of jobs is estimated by the Puget Sound Regional Council, and includes part-time jobs. The Washington State Office of Financial Management estimates existing residential population.

Share of Regional Employment. Redmond plans to accommodate 119,000 total jobs by 2030. Given regional growth forecasts, those 119,000 jobs would represent 3.83% of the four-county (King, Pierce, Snohomish, and Kitsap) regional total in 2030. In 2014, Redmond accounted for 4.61% of the estimated regional employment total of about 1.96 million.
