Site-Specific Performances 2010
Braiding the Grass on the Sammamish Trail
Sarah Kavage, a Seattle artist and urban planner, will create a site-specific art installation along the Sammamish River Trail by braiding the tall grass nearby. She will work on the project beginning mid-August for about two weeks. About an installation In Arlington, Washington, she said, "The grass was left in the soil like a French braid on the earth, with the grass as the hair. I was thinking about the end of summer and the harvest, 'women's work' and old European traditions of living sculpture. The braid traced an undulating, looping path through the field, like a snake or a spinal column."  The project is funded through the King County Site Specific Performance Network.

The Tent Show will be at the Redmond City Hall green space on July 25 from 10am to 6pm. This is an art exhibition that explores art outside the museum or gallery context. Participation is open to everyone. The work must be able to be put up and taken down in one day, it should require no electricity, and be able to withstand the elements. This unusual opportunity invites responsive, interdisciplinary visual expressions, evolving collaborations, and performance. View details on Tent Show.

Site-Specific Performances 2007
Throughout Arts in the Parks, artists have been engaging artists in new ways. Subhashini Santhanam demonstrated the art of Henna, traditionally a symbol of happiness, prosperity, and well-being in India at the first Redmond Arts Jam. Paul Rucker, an extraordinary improvisational cellist began the first of 50 cello performances throughout King County at Redmond City Hall. Vaughn Bell brought her Cultivation Utility Vehicle through the park, offering "land adoptions" to the people she met.

On September 15, Rob D'Arc will present 3 Minute Theatre at Redmond Town Center. Through this performance, featuring a two seat theatre and beautifully designed sets and costumes, 3 Minute Theatre condenses the whole theatrical experience into a few minutes. "3 Minute Theatre encourages in its audiences a spirit of curiosity, risk taking, and playfulness, while offering a detour from daily reality," writes D'Arc.

Theater Simple comes to Redmond Saturday Market on September 29 with a new performance entitled Park Bench. Park Bench is an interactive live theater piece that is unpredictable, mobile, and personalized. A small flatbed truck will be outfitted with sod, a tree, and a park bench. People who pass by will be asked to "sit on the park bench" and participate in the project by telling their own stories.

The Redmond Arts Commission is co-sponsoring the 2007 FREE Eastside Symphony performance on Saturday, December 8, 2007 at the Redmond Senior Center (8703 160th Ave. NE) at 1:00 p.m. The show will feature:
