The City has recently received a proposal for an innovative
housing demonstration project, west of Idylwood Park at 17259 N.E.
36th Street. The project consists of seven detached homes, along
with two accessory dwelling units over garages. The applicant for
the proposal will host a neighborhood meeting which is scheduled for
Monday, July 13, 2009, from 7 to 8:30 p.m., at Redmond City Hall.
After the neighborhood meeting has taken place, the applicant has up
to 90 days to consider comments and incorporate any changes into a
new project submittal.
The Innovative Housing Demonstration Program supports the City of
Redmond's vision to encourage various housing choices for residents.
Last year, the City Council extended the interim ordinance which
regulates new innovative housing demonstration projects and
establishes a selection process for these projects. The program
allows a limited number of projects that encourage a variety of
housing options that are compatible with surrounding development.
