Bear Creek Citizen Advisory Committee

The City of Redmond is encouraging people who live, own property or work in the Bear Creek neighborhood to apply for a position on the Bear Creek Citizen Advisory Committee (CAC).  The application deadline is May 15, 2009.

The Bear Creek neighborhood is the eastern part of Redmond, located east of Avondale Road, north of Union Hill Road and within the city limits.  The plan for this neighborhood was last updated in 1995.

Citizen Advisory Committee members have three primary responsibilities.   The first is to communicate with people who live, work or own property in the neighborhood about the issues the CAC is considering as part of the neighborhood plan update, and to convey these comments and concerns to the rest of the CAC.   The second is to represent people who may be affected by decisions made as part of updating the neighborhood plan and associated development regulations.   The third is to develop consensus on recommended updates to the neighborhood plan within the context of Redmond's Comprehensive Plan.

This summer the Mayor will appoint CAC members, who are confirmed by the City Council.  The CAC is expected to meet twice per month for about one year beginning in Fall 2009.

Interested community members should complete a Community Service Application available on the City's website, returning it to the Mayor's office by May 15, 2009.

Prospective CAC members are encouraged to attend as many Citizen Academy sessions as possible.  The Academy is an excellent opportunity for all Redmond residents to learn about the City's government operations, from utility planning to emergency preparedness to transportation.  The first session is on May 12th, 6:30pm-8:30pm at Redmond City Hall, 15670 NE 85th Street.
