Redmond Seeks Poet Laureate

The Redmond Arts Commission is seeking applicants for the position of Poet Laureate for the City of Redmond.  The position was developed to broaden the awareness of poetry in our community, elevate the discourse during City debate and discussion and express the essence of Redmond through poetry.
 
To be qualified, applicants must be established or published poets, must be Redmond or unincorporated King County (with a Redmond postal address) residents or have a significant record of active participation in Redmond’s literary arts organizations.  Applicants must also be active in the poetry community and be willing to promote poetry in Redmond throughout a three year term.
 
Those interested are asked to complete the Poet Laureate application available on the City's website or by calling 425-556-2316.  Submit applications to Mary Yelanjian, Arts Administrator, PO Box 97010, MS: 4NPK, Redmond WA 98073-9710.   Applications must be received by July 1, 2009.
