Avondale Road Reopens; Speed and Alcohol Factor in Crash

A fatal single car collision closed Avondale Road in Redmond this morning from 3:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m.  Contributing factors of the victim's crash are believed to be high speed and alcohol.  There were no other persons involved.

The Redmond Police Traffic Division estimates the driver, a 30-year-old Kirkland man, was traveling southbound on Avondale Road in excess of 100 miles per hour when he lost control of the white Cadillac CTS and swerved across three lanes into a wooded area.  The posted speed limit on Avondale Road is 40 miles per hour.  The driver was not wearing his seatbelt at the time of the collision.

During interviews, Redmond Police learned that the driver consumed alcohol earlier in the evening.  Exact cause of death will be determined by the Medical Examiner.
