Apply to Amend City's Comprehensive Plan

Deadline June 2 The City of Redmond invites any individual, business, or organization to submit applications for amendments to Redmond's Comprehensive Plan.  The deadline for amendment applications to be considered during 2008-09 is 5pm on Monday, June 2, 2008.  Proposals received after the deadline will be considered during 2009-10.

The Comprehensive Plan describes the community's long-term values and goals, guiding Redmond's physical, economic and social development.   It includes a land use plan, as well as sections on topics such as Housing, Economic Vitality, Transportation and Capital Facilities.  It also includes sections with policies specific to Redmond's ten neighborhoods that the City defines as Bear Creek, Southeast Redmond, North Redmond, Education Hill, Willow/Rose Hill, Grass Lawn, Overlake, Sammamish Valley, Viewpoint and Downtown.

Amendment requests may involve either the text or map portions of the Comprehensive Plan.

The City completed a major review and update of the Comprehensive Plan in 2004.  This year's amendment package will focus on minor revisions as needed to citywide policies and updates to certain neighborhood-specific policies as part of neighborhood planning efforts.

The application forms and instructions for requesting an amendment are available by calling the Comprehensive Planning Division at 425-556-2440 or by visiting our website.  There is no fee for applying for a Comprehensive Plan amendment.

Applicants are strongly encouraged to meet with City planning staff prior to submitting an application.  For questions or to schedule an appointment, please contact Jeff Churchill, 425-556-2492 or jchurchill@redmond.gov.
