Robbery/Theft Spree Stopped

On April 23, 2008 at approximately 1615 hours, Redmond police responded to the 15400 block of NE 51st ST to investigate a reported strong armed robbery.  The victim, a 28 year old male resident of Seattle, reported he was assaulted by three male suspects while he was waiting for a bus at a bus stop.  They hit him several times and forcefully took his jacket that he had been wearing.  The suspects then fled in an awaiting vehicle that was parked close by.  Both victim and witnesses described the suspect vehicle as a maroon SUV and provided a Washington State vehicle license plate number.

At approximately 1920 hours Redmond police responded to investigate another theft that had just occurred at another bus stop.  This time, a 53 year old female resident of Redmond, who was waiting for the bus in the 4200 block of 148th Ave NE, had her purse stolen.  She told officers she had been approached by a  male who started talking to her when suddenly another male subject ran by and grabbed her purse.  The first male then told her he would chase the suspect to get her purse back.  A short time later, while reporting the incident to the officers, this same subject was observed running to a maroon SUV that had pulled to the curb of 148th Ave NE.  The victim indicated that the subject was the witness who had offered to help.  Officers approached the SUV to obtain a statement and recognized the vehicle as the same described from the earlier incident

A subsequent investigation by officers and detectives determined that this was both the vehicle and suspects involved in these incidents.  Three arrests were made and the vehicle was impounded, awaiting a search warrant.  The arrested subjects were an 18 year old male from Tukwila, a juvenile male from SeaTac and a juvenile male from Renton.

Bellevue Police also are investigating a similar incident that occurred today involving a maroon SUV and a strong armed robbery.
