Family Photos needed for 2008 Derby Days

This year Derby Days will be held on the City Hall Campus on Saturday, July 12. That may seem like a long way away, but not for this year's organizers. The theme is "Through the Decades", and the Derby Days committee is hoping Redmond residents will share a photo or two that expresses their experience at past Derby Days.

Since it began in the late 1930's, many local families have enjoyed Redmond's summer festival handing down their joy to their children, who have, in turn, passed it on to their children. It is not uncommon to see three generations from one family marching in the Kids Parade.

It is that spirit of community the committee wants to capture through the use of photos from the last seven decades, but they need the help of Redmond residents. For those interested in sharing a few photos with the community, there are two ways to do it.

If the photo is (or can be) digital, please email to mgronlund@redmond.gov. However, if it is not mail to: Marta Gronlund, City of Redmond 4SCC, PO Box 97010, Redmond, WA, 98073-9710. Please include a self-addressed envelope so the photo(s) can be returned to you. With both types of photos, please include the family name and the year of the photo.

The committee needs the photos by April 29 to be included in the Derby Days brochure. For more information, contact mgronlund@redmond.gov or 425-556-2427.
