The body of what is believed to be a 23-year-old
Sammamish man was located this afternoon in the Sammamish
River. Cause of death is unknown, but there are no initial
signs of foul play. The family filed a missing person report
Monday with the King County Sheriff’s Office after last
being seen Saturday evening.
Redmond Police was notified this morning after the subject’s
vehicle and clothing were found near the Sammamish River Trail
leading investigators to search the river. During the investigation
the King County Sheriff’s Marine Unit was able to retrieve the body
of the missing person. RPD will investigate the death and autopsy
reports are expected in 8-10 weeks.
“This was definitely a cooperative effort between the Redmond
Police Department and King County Sheriff’s Office,” said Jim Bove,
Public Information Officer for the Redmond Police Department. “Given
the situation, it was pertinent that we work together. We are
thankful for the collaboration with the Sheriff’s Office and the
thoughts of both agencies are with the family and friends at this
time.”
