The Redmond Youth Partnership Advisory Committee (RYPAC),
a program of the City of Redmond, announced today it will
host a Community Youth Summit, uniting youth and adult
community members to create solutions to challenges that
young people face in Redmond.
The summit will be held on Thursday, March 20 from 8:30 am to
1:30 pm at the Old Redmond Schoolhouse Community Center, 16600 NE
80th Street.
The summit’s theme this year is “Cooperation Through
Communication” – Bridging the Gaps. It will bring over 150 youth and
50 adults together to discuss solutions to issues that teens in
Redmond are dealing with. The five workshops for the day are:
Dealing With It – Issues and Challenges that teen face; It’s
All About the Money – How do you deal with everyday expenses to
living on your own; Expanding Your World – What are the
opportunities beyond our community for fun, education, and giving
back; Stepping Up to High School – For junior high students
hear what to expect in high school and Life After High School
– What you need to know after graduation.
“This Community Youth Summit is one way we connect youth to
adults who can offer them ideas and coping skills,” noted Ken Wong,
Teen Programs Director. “It’s critical we make sure we not only
value what they say, but also provide them with the tools to make
their way in a complex world.”
RYPAC’s purpose is to be a voice for young people and to promote
a community where youth are valued and involved. The committee
provides opportunities for youth to develop leadership abilities and
interest in volunteerism through participation in the creation and
delivery of projects serving youth within Redmond.
