Several volunteer opportunities are currently available
within the City of Redmond. Redmond community events, such
as Derby Days and
RedmondLights, utilize the talents of hundreds of
community volunteers. The City is currently recruiting
volunteers for the 2008 Redmond event schedule including
events such as Derby Days,
Eggstravaganza,
Fun to be Fit Fair and
RedmondLights. For Redmond students, community service hours
do apply.
Vacancies are currently available on the Derby Days steering
committee. Would you enjoy serving as chair of children’s activities
or volunteer recruitment? Join other Redmond residents and business
people and help plan the 68th annual Redmond Derby Days. Your
talents and time are needed.
“I can’t thank enough all the wonderful volunteers that come out
every year to help us,” noted Jill Smith, Marketing and Events
Administrator. “Volunteers help to make Redmond an outstanding
community-oriented place to live, work and play.”
Do you enjoy the satisfaction of helping others and giving to
your community? Studies show many health benefits associated with
volunteering. It increases self esteem, lowers blood pressure,
reduces stress on the body and even bolsters the immune system. In
addition to these health benefits, volunteering builds community.
Please contact Jill Smith at 425-556-2360 or
jesmith@redmond.gov to learn more about the volunteer
opportunities available.
