Five employees at two local massage establishments were arrested
yesterday by Redmond Police for promoting prostitution and a
customer was arrested for patronizing a prostitute.
After investigating a citizen complaint, the Redmond Police
Department obtained a search warrant for the Serenity Acupressure
and Wellness Center in Redmond at 15670 Redmond Way and Chi Energy
Spa in Bellevue at 12001 NE 12th Street. Five female employees, ages
24, 26, 34, 35, and 38, were arrested for promoting prostitution.
Redmond Police also arrested a 43 year old male for patronizing a
prostitute.
Both establishments are owned and operated by a California
couple. Redmond Police Department (RPD) recovered over $3,000 in
cash and business records linking the two establishments. Of the
five practicing massage therapists, only one had a license.
“Our investigation team worked meticulously to make these
simultaneous arrests at two different locations. It is our goal to
hold any business accountable for illegal activities. This type of
practice is not welcomed in Redmond and this was a step towards
making our community safer. We could not have done this without the
cooperation and information from our citizens,” said Redmond Police
spokesman Jim Bove.
