Assault 1 - Stabbing

On October 7, 2007, at about 3 pm, Redmond Police received a call from the victim of a stabbing at an apartment complex in the 18600 block of Redmond Way. The victim, a 19 year old Redmond resident, told responding officers that his friend had stabbed him in the stomach while inside the friend’s apartment, and then fled the scene in a black Chevy Cobalt. The victim thought that the suspect might be heading towards Spokane, as he was planning to move there. The victim was then transported to Harborview Hospital by Redmond Paramedics. Officers made sure that no one else was injured inside the apartment and then secured the scene.

Police notified surrounding agencies of the crime and suspect description, and a trooper from the Washington State Patrol located the vehicle and suspect heading east on I-90 near Vantage. The suspect, a 19 year old male, was taken into custody without incident and transported back to Redmond for booking. A second male subject in the suspect vehicle was also arrested on an unrelated charge.

Redmond Detectives are conducting follow up investigation of the crime. The victim underwent surgery at Harborview Hospital on Sunday evening and his injury is not believed to be life-threatening. The suspect will be charged through the King County Prosecutors Office later this week.
