Is your organization interested in promoting tourism in Redmond? The
City of Redmond has funds available for projects that stimulate
tourism. Public or private organizations are invited to apply for
the grants, which are paid for by a portion of the one percent sales
tax on hotel and motel rooms. Applications for 2008 funding will be
accepted through Friday, November 2 by 4pm. Applications received
after this date will be eligible for the next round of funding.
“We have funded some outstanding projects that have encouraged
regional interest in our city,” says Jacky Goren, the Tourism Grant
program administrator. “Local businesses benefit from this program,
and because it helps fund beloved community events like
RedmondLights, residents love it too.”
Applicant organizations may be cultural, historical, educational
and community organizations, museums, galleries, chambers of
commerce, or visitors information bureaus. Grants may not exceed 50
percent of the cost of the project. The Redmond Lodging Tax
Committee will evaluate qualifying applications on a competitive
basis using the official Tourism Promotion funding criteria, and
forward their recommendations to the Mayor and City Council for
approval.
For more information and to receive an application packet, call
425-556-2441 or send email to
jgoren@redmond.gov. Applications are also available through the
City of Redmond’s website.
All applications must be received by 4 pm on Friday, November 2,
2007.
