Mayor Rosemarie Ives has been awarded an honorary Master of
Science degree in Computer Science by DigiPen Institute of
Technology in Redmond Washington.
“This is a great honor. DigiPen is an important part of the
Redmond community and has grown steadily over the years,” stated
Mayor Rosemarie Ives. “Originally offering Associate and Bachelor’s
degrees in video game development, in 2004, they added three new
accredited degree programs, one being the Master of Science in
Computer Science.”
DigiPen was founded in Vancouver, B.C., Canada, in 1988 as an
Applied Computer Graphics School specializing in computer simulation
and animation. In cooperation with Nintendo of America, the program
was designed in response to a need for qualified personnel in video
game production.
The Redmond based DigiPen Institute of Technology opened in
January 1998 with its first 11 students graduating in 2000.
“Rosemarie Ives has been beside us at DigiPen since the first day
we arrived,” stated Claude Comair, DigiPen’s founder and President.
“She came to every single graduation ceremony and helped us get
settled in Redmond. We thank her for her friendship and great moral
support.”
The school draws talented students from around the world,
offering Associate, Bachelor and Master Degree programs in digital
interactive entertainment technology. Graduates are hired by a host
of employers, including DreamWorks Interactive, Microsoft, Nintendo
Software Technology and Sony, to name a few.
